Diabetes partnership powering a healthier future

 
Winner of 2018 Prevention & Awareness Category
KiDS and Diabetes in Schools won the Prevention & Awareness Category at the 2018 Health Collaboration Awards.

Around one in five people in Europe is an unhealthy weight, putting them at increased risk of diabetes. Poland is a case in point. More than 20% of primary and secondary school children in Poland are overweight. 

The KiDS and Diabetes in Schools, an educational programme, was co-created by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) and Sanofi. The goal was to make schools a safe and supportive environment for children with diabetes, to fight discrimination, and to prevent type 2 diabetes through education on lifestyle choices.
