José Fco. Zamarriego

José Fco. Zamarriego has a Phd in Economics and Business Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, an MBA from the University of Wales and a postgraduate degree in General Management (PDG) from IESE. Until February 2004 he was a full professor at the European University of Madrid (UEM), where he held, among other positions, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and Executive Director of the General Foundation of the UEM. He combined these responsibilities with the position of General Director of the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Generic Pharmaceutical Substances and Specialties (AESEG).

Since February 2004 he is the Director of Code of Practice Surveillance Unit of Farmaindustria. He currently represents Farmaindustria as Chair of EFPIA's Codes Committee, Vice Chair of the Ethics & Compliance Committee, Member of the Steering Committee; as well as Chair of the IFPMA Code Complaint Procedure Appeal Group. He has actively participated in various modifications of the Farmaindustria, EFPIA and IFPMA Codes.

He is the author of several publications about the Spanish self-regulation system, the Spanish Code of Good Practices, marketing and generic medicines and compliance in the pharmaceutical industry. He has also participated as a speaker in more than 350 conferences in relation to the above topics. Those carried out through the Official Colleges of Physicians and Pharmacists in Spain, the Institute for International Research (IIR) and the national associations of Argentina (CaEME), Colombia (Afidro), Chile (CIF), China (PhIRDA), stand out. Denmark (LIF), United States (PhRMA), Philippines (PHAP), France (LEEM), Greece (SFEE), India (OPPI), Japan (JPMA), South Korea (KRPIA), Mexico (CANIFARMA), Romania ( ARPI), Singapore (SAPI) and Sweden (LIF), as well as those of Yalku-Kon, EFAPCO, EUCOMED, EFPIA, IFPMA, the Drug Information Association (DIA) and the Pharmaceutical Compliance Forum (PCF). He has also taught courses and seminars as a guest professor at more than 25 universities and professional schools.

Since May 2015 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Compliance Association (ASCOM) and since 2023 he has been appointed as president.

In July 2023 he has been named patron of the Foundation of the Illustrious College of Physicians of Madrid.
