Deputy Chief Medical Officer – Roche Pharma Product Development

Stefan Frings M.D., Ph.D., was appointed the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Roche Pharma in 2024 following 4 years leading the Global Medical Affairs organisation in Pharma Development. Prior to this he served as the Head of Strategy, Portfolio & Clinical Operations in Roche Pharma Research and Early Development.

In his previous roles across Roche and Genentech, Stefan led the Medical Affairs Organization of Roche Pharma in Germany, and held further leadership roles as Global Head of Oncology in Roche Partnering, Global Head of Medical Affairs Oncology, Global Franchise Director for the Avastin and earlier the HER2 Franchise, and various Life Cycle Leader, International, and Local Medical Manager positions.

Before joining Roche in 1997, Stefan graduated from the medical school of the Heinrich-Heine University in Duesseldorf, Germany. He gained a board certification in internal medicine and underwent sub-specialty training in onco-/haematology at the West German Cancer Centre and a large academic teaching hospital.
