Cancer care in Europe: Where are we in 2020? Brussels, Belgium

The Comparator Report on Cancer in Europe, launched on 16 January 2020, provides an overview of the current state of cancer care in Europe.

Developed by the Swedish Institute for Health Economics, it reflects on major trends in cancer across Europe, including patient outcomes, disease burden and patient access to care and treatment as well as potential solutions to tackle cancer.

Among the key findings of report is what looks like a paradox: although more people are being diagnosed with cancer, a smaller proportion of those people appear to be dying from the disease.

A combination of preventative programmes, timely diagnosis and intervention, and advances in treatment are helping to prolong people’s lives. More than that, new therapies have delivered reported improvements in quality of life for several cancer types. However, there is still a long way to go if we want to extend these benefits more widely and more equitably.

To find out more about the report, directly from the authors, join us on 29 January 2020, from 14:30 to 16:30 at the Renaissance Hotel Brussels (Rue du Parnasse 19, 1050 Bruxelles) for the official launch. To register please click here.
