Revealing policy barriers in diabetes care: How we can improve outcomes
An event by PwC & EFPIA
Clinical guidelines for managing diabetes reflect the latest scientific evidence. They are a vital tool for providing the best possible care to patients. But in practice there are big variations in the way that the guidelines are implemented across Europe.
One major reason for this may be local health policies, such as those that define the adaptation of international guidelines to national settings of care, the access to medicines, and the processes required for therapeutic management and prescription. These can make it hard to adhere to guidelines and therefore achieve the optimal health outcomes, as discussed in the upcoming EFPIA/PwC report on policy barriers to diabetes management (launch on 24 May 2023).
In this webinar we will explore what the specific barriers are, how they affect patients and health systems and, crucially, what can be done to overcome them and ensure timely access to quality care.
