Some tumour types develop resistance to conventional treatments such as chemotherapy. Bayer scientists are exploring alpha particle-emitting radionuclides attached to antibodies that are targeted to eliminate cancerous tissue. This form of treatment could be a source of new hope in particular for patients with refractory tumours.
