Personalized Cancer Therapies: Collaboration with the PATH Foundation

Every tumour is different. Cancer can originate from different kinds of cells from various organs and give rise to a wide range of malignant tumours. A detailed understanding of these differences is vital to develop treatments that are matched to the molecular changes in the individual tumour and thus likely to be more effective. In the development of novel personalized therapies Bayer scientists are searching for specific marker proteins of tumour cells, where they are working together closely with a variety of different organizations and groups. An important collaborator in this regard is the PATH (Patients’ Tumour Bank of Hope) foundation, which was set up by breast cancer patients with the aim of increasing the chances of recovery.
