Supporting FASEB in their transport of research animals

Brussels, 21 November 2012: Research using live animals is a small but essential part of biomedical research and medicines development. Their timely supply and transport in the best conditions, by experienced airlines, is a crucial element of biomedical research and part of the animal welfare endeavour. In addition animal welfare also translates into better scientific results as well as a reduction of animals used.

EFPIA would therefore like to thank Air India’s for its decision to resist pressure of anti-research groups to continue transporting live animals in support to research which will save and improve the quality of life of patients globally. The biomedical research community is strongly committed to continued improvement of research tools, including reduction, refinement and replacement of animals wherever possible.
