Healthcare in India: Opportunities at a crossroads

On May 26, 2014, Narendra Modi took up office as India's Prime Minister. His government has made healthcare a national priority. The newly-elected administration has also promised to deliver inclusive growth and raised expectations of greater openness and responsiveness.

Against this backdrop, a range of health sector stakeholders gathered in Brussels to discuss the implications for healthcare in India. This report features highlights from Healthcare in India: Opportunities at a Crossroads, which took place on June 12 at the Silken Berlaymont Hotel. Hosted by the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) and chaired by Gauri Khandekar of the FRIDE think tank, the conference featured contributions from academia, industry, NGOs, the European Commission and the WHO.
