EFPIA is exceedingly pleased to congratulate Alojz Peterle on winning the health category at the 2015 MEP Awards, held at the Concert Noble in Brussels on 18 March 2015. The award was presented to Mr Peterle by Raquel Resendes, Government Affairs Manager at EFPIA.

Mr Peterle was one of the founders of the MEPs Against Cancer group (MAC) and a strong advocator of health matters in the European Parliament. He is well known for his contribution to the European healthcare agenda, focusing on a wide range of issues including cancer, cost-effective prevention measures and early intervention strategies.

EFPIA is proud to have sponsored the health category of the awards, which it believes reflects the valuable contribution by MEPs in the European Parliament to the healthcare sector. As much of the healthcare competence remains in the hands of the member states, it is all the more impressive that certain MEPs strive to make health a stand-out issue and to ensure that there is comprehensive discussion in parliament about this important topic.
