“A Healthier Future: From Innovation to Outcomes”: Andriukaitis and Oettinger lead the debate at the EFPIA Annual Conference 2016
This year’s EFPIA Annual Conference will focus on the challenges faced by European health systems, the role of innovation in meeting these challenges, and how a focus on patient outcomes can improve care and make health systems in Europe more sustainable. Entitled: “A Healthier Future: from Innovation to Outcomes”, the Conference will be held on 15 June 2016, at the Radisson Hotel in Brussels, Belgium.
EFPIA is delighted to welcome EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Vytenis Andriukaitis, and EU Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society, Günther Oettinger, as keynote speakers at the conference. Dr Andriukaitis will discuss meeting the challenges faced by Europe’s Healthcare systems, while Mr Oettinger will address the digitisation of the health economy.
Among other experts bringing valuable content to the debate will be: Joe Jimenez, EFPIA President & CEO of Novartis; Dr. Roberto Bertollini, Chief Scientist and WHO Representative to the European Union; Elias Mossialos, Professor of Health Policy within the Department of Social Policy at the London School of Economics; and Robert Madelin, former Director General for Health and Consumer Protection (SANCO), who is serving currently as the European Commission’s first ever Senior Innovation Adviser.
Speaking about the conference, EFPIA Director General Richard Bergström said: “Despite the challenges, with over 7,000 medicines in development, new diagnostic techniques, genomic research and advances in data analytics, there are many reasons to be optimistic about a healthier future for Europe. The EFPIA conference aims to further dialogue on how we harness this exciting wave of innovation, to improve patients lives and deliver more sustainable healthcare in Europe.”
